FROM THE GREEN AND GOLD TO THE GREENS: SCHALK BRITS JOINS ICONS CUP

One of the most dynamic, beloved, and charismatic hookers in modern rugby history, former Springbok World Cup winner Schalk Brits is officially joining Team South Africa on the fairways. Celebrated worldwide for his explosive athleticism, famous smile, and unmatched work rate, Brits has turned his fierce competitive energy toward golf since retiring from rugby, becoming deeply obsessed with the game and sharpening his skills down to an elite 1 handicap.

Brits brings exceptional single-figure ball-striking, electric locker-room energy, and proven big-match composure to captain Ernie Els’s host-nation team.

His addition further bolsters an incredible South African lineup at The Links at Fancourt, joining fellow Springbok icons Fourie du Preez, Butch James, Schalk Burger, and Victor Matfield, Proteas cricket greats AB de Villiers, Shaun Pollock, Vernon Philander, Chris Morris, and Herschelle Gibbs, Olympic swimming champion Roland Schoeman, and football star Jimmy Tau.
