SKY SPORTS RETURNS AS UK BROADCAST PARTNER FOR ICONS SERIES

Sky Sports will once again bring the Reignwood Icons of Football to UK audiences, confirming its return as broadcast partner for the 2026 edition of the golf event, taking place at Reignwood Park, Bangkok from 31 January – 1 February 2026.

Following a hugely successful debut year in Asia, the Icons Series returns bigger and bolder.  By uniting 24 of the world’s greatest football icons in a matchplay golf showdown, the series continues to reimagine the intersection of professional sport and live entertainment.

Sky Sports will broadcast the tournament live across Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Main Event throughout the weekend, with additional coverage, highlights, and digital content supporting the event. The 2026 tournament sees Team England and Team World renew their rivalry, with an all-star lineup of football icons swapping boots for clubs in one of sport’s most entertaining crossover events.

A STRONGER BROADCAST, PRODUCED IN-HOUSE BY ICONS SERIES

For 2026, the television production will be delivered in-house by Icons Series, with the broadcast team bolstered by the addition of senior, award-winning producers to elevate the live show and storytelling.

Joining the broadcast team are Executive Producers Joe Bass and Tim Lacy, both bringing extensive experience from major global productions. Bass comes from an entertainment background including I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Soccer Aid for UNICEF, while Lacy joins from his long-term role within golf at IMG. They are supported by Danny Hackett as Live Director and Andy Quinn as Live Producer, strengthening the in-house production team as Icons Series continues to elevate its live broadcast offering for 2026.

SKY SPORTS & ICONS SERIES: INNOVATION MEETS ENTERTAINMENT

The 2026 broadcast introduces several format USPs designed to heighten the drama, including ‘Call the Captain’ where Icon’s can invite their captain to play their shot, the high-stakes viewer voted ‘Shot of the Session’ bonus points, and the partisan atmosphere of ‘Home’ holes, where an ‘Away’ win is worth double.

Jason Wessely, Director of Golf at Sky Sports, said: “Building on the success of last year’s event, we’re delighted to bring Reignwood Icons of Football back to Sky Sports. As the home for golf fans in the UK and Ireland, the competition complements our unrivalled golf offering, combining a distinctive format, iconic personalities, and competitive drama, with live coverage across Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Main Event.”

Chris Sice, Chief Content Officer, Icons Series, added: “Icons Series brings a fresh, live TV show to Sky’s schedule, designed to attract a new audience to golf through genuine curiosity can elite athletes switch sports and win? The fast-paced, high-stakes match-play format delivers elite competition, while combining premium golf production with entertainment-led storytelling. Built for the modern audience, Icons Series is a true lean-forward show. With rare ‘inside-the-ropes’ access and real-time audience engagement, viewers are able to interact with both the format and the personalities as the drama unfolds across the two-day live event.”
